Rant Of The Day is where I get to mouth off about whatever I feel like for however long I like. Theoretically, I'll update my whinge/opinion piece every weekday; in practice, maybe not so often.
But all that won't stop me from watching Australian Good Taste when it debuts on the Ten Network this Saturday. The reason why I'm breaking my lifestyle rule can be summed up in two words: Tania Lacy.
If you can't remember who Tania Lacy was, go away, this Web site is not for the likes of you. If the name raises a vague glimmer of memory, let me refresh it: Tania was the comedienne who got her start on the ABC's Saturday morning 'yoof' show The Factory and became a fully-fledged celebrity when she became the resident host on Countdown Revolution, the music show that proved that Stock-Aitken-Waterman wasn't a dirty word (and got banned after Lacy and co-host Mark Little went on strike on air).
Since CR's unfortunate demise, Tania has dabbled in reporting for Channel Nine, and done her own one-woman show. Now she's back on TV, presenting a weekly segment called (I kid you not) 'In Your Fridge'. And I'll be watching every minute of it. Considering I have a tape of clips at home with basically every second Tania appeared on CR, this shouldn't come as a big shock to you all.
I always figured that Seven made a big mistake when they didn't hire Tania for Fast Forward, since she came with a predeveloped set of characters: Annette the Librarian, Carlos, Max Facts, and the entire cast of The High, The Mighty. Somehow, I doubt they'll be showing up on AGT, but I live in hope.
